Beaches
Tersanas
​
Tersanas is the nearest beach about 20 min walk or 5 min drive from the cottage. It is a lovely sandy small beach in a small cove, protected from waves. It has sun beds and parasols available for rent. There is a beach bar for drinks and snacks and a restaurant serving sea food.
Kalathas
​
About 22 min walk or 5 min drive from the cottage. It is a mid-sized sandy beach with an islet in the middle of the bay and sunset views. Kalathas has sunbeds and parasols for rent. On the two end sides of the beach there are two small and more isolated beaches. There are snackbars and a lifeguard
Stavros
​
About 10 min drive is the famous beach of Stavros, a sheltered bay beneath the Stavros mountain of Vardies. Sandy beach with sun-beds and parasols in the center but also space to set up your own parasol or towel on the side ends. There are cafes and restaurants. The bay facilitates a calm sea with safe swimming. The beach can get busy at peak times, but it is large enough to cope. The film “Zorba the Greek” was shot on location.
Seitan Limania

Seitan Limania beach is about 10 min drive, a sheltered small bay with a sandy beach and deep blue water. There are no sun-beds, parasols or snack bars, but can get busy during peak season as it is amongst the most impressive beaches in Crete. The beach and the bay was used by pirates in the past as a shelter and has a unique beauty. It takes a 15-min hike to get to the beach after the car park.
The list of beaches provided is indicative and based on proximity to the cottage, There are several other beaches in Chania such as Balos, Elafonissi, Falassarna that you can visit by car accessible as a daily trip.
